My hero, Gaylord, decided not to kill the dog but to maim the animal so it will never forget what it has done.. So, he attacks the dog while it's asleep and blinds him. I know cats, when confronted by a dog they can't escape, will often go for the dog's eyes. Anyway, it seems to work for now. I'll have to wait to re-write in oder to test its plausibility.
