One cause is tar-tar build up on the teeth. And contrary to what people say, dry cat food does not clean the teeth.

All I can think of is, it may be choking on something, look down its throat with a flashlight, could be a foreign body lodged there, but would be imperative to get it checked promptly. I would NOT say it is doing this because of the ingestion of the formula, but rather something else. Please act immediately, and go to the vet for find the cause. These things I have said is what I think the cause is. But please do not conclude on this, as it may be inaccurate, or NOT likely to be the cause. Please wait for others to answer who may be accurate and with a more likely cause.
