Find an animal shelter that does not euthanize animals due to their age or how long they have been there. Take the kittens there. Then you won\\\'t feel bad for the adult cats. Kittens get adopted quickly.

Research different cat breeds about their general personality. When you find one, visit petfinder.com to find the cat breed in which you are interested. Hopefully, there will be an animal shelter nearby with that breed. Otherwise, just looking at the cat pictures at local animal shelter Web sites or visiting the animal shelter may strike your interest in one you would like to consider adopting. What is very important is to gain information from the animal shelter staff/volunteers on the individual cats\\\' personalities. Every cat is different, even within breed. You will be able to find out if the cat is good with cats/dogs/kids, if the cat would prefer to be an only cat, or if the cat prefers playing or sitting on your lap. You can find out if the cat would fit in your household. Good luck!
