my cat always gets dirty ears and how should i clean them also he is getting kind of fat also what is the right food

The pupil is large and does not react to light. He seems to be doing ok but I just wonder what it could be a catarac maybe? HIs other eye is fine. I can’t afford to take him to the vets. It doesn’t seem to bother him
